Trust the Woodland Trust

The UK’s woodland is under threat. More than 1,000 irreplaceable ancient woods have been threatened over the last 10 years. Thousands more are dying without much-needed careful restoration. But The Woodland Trust is working hard to raise awareness and ensure we look after our woodland. And both Her Royal Highness The Queen and Sir David Attenborough agree! Yesterday (the 12th April) saw the second airing on ITV's This Morning show for The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy (QCC). As part of this, The Woodland Trust is providing 50,000 trees for ITV viewers, funded by Sainsbury’s, for a plant-a-tree campaign which will run on the network leading up to the transmission of a new documentary on April 16. And the response mechanism for viewers was the Trust’s Preference Centre, implemented by Kudos. As with the first airing on April 6th, The Preference Centre took 400 record updates per minute, or 7 records every second! The records were deduplicated and synchronised across The Trust's internal Supporter Management systems via API's and widgets.Joseph Irvine, Head of Support Service, The Woodland Trust, commented “We have a shared vision with Kudos to deliver a supporter centric platform with scalability in mind, which enables our supporters to take control of their relationship with the Trust and deliver our long term vision to create engaged, personalised and relevant communication to our members and supporters. We believe that The Preference Centre portal will not only provide 100% transparent compliance, but enable the Trust to maximise our fundraising – enabling us to deliver our vision of a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife.”preference centreThe Woodland Trust is at the forefront of charities which have adopted new systems and processes to ensure GDPR compliance. Kudos have worked with the Trust since early 2017 and The Preference Centre has been at the heart of the GDPR compliance project since May 2017. All supporters, donors and stakeholders can manage their own marketing preferences via the website and choose how the Trust uses their data. Or any of the Trust’s supporter services staff (internal and third party) can amend a person’s preferences upon request. The Preference Centre is fully integrated and data is synchronised with the Trust’s legacy infrastructure, including the CARE Supporter Management system. But The Preference Centre does much more than simply store preferences! The technology has a powerful application platform interface (API). The capability to push and pull preference data into other application platforms makes the Preference Centre the lowest cost method of allowing for enterprise preference management, with direct consumer access to the data.In addition, Preference Centre can generate stand-alone forms for permission gathering and handle email opt-out links from any system. Plus current permissions can be uploaded easily by administrators.Permission statements can be tested in groups with live reporting, enabling poor performing statements to be amended or removed with a single click. The administration area gives you full reporting on your permission channels, areas and statements, allowing you to see at a glance the health of your supporters/customers.Connect to the web-service with any email or customer relationship management (CRM) system, and query for single records or whole permission groups, allowing both individual and multiple updates. See here for more details.QueenBack to The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy…the campaign is creating a network of forest conservation initiatives across all 53 Commonwealth countries to mark Her Majesty's lifetime of service to the Commonwealth, while preserving natural habitat for future generations. ITV have produced a landmark documentary, featuring a unique conversation between the Queen and Sir David Attenborough as they walked in the garden at Buckingham Palace last summer. The documentary, entitled The Queen’s Green Planet, will explore the ambition of this remarkable new initiative. The Queen's Green Planet documentary will be aired on Monday April 16th on ITV. The winning applicants to The Woodland Trust's tree giveaway will receive a pack containing five UK-sourced and grown native broadleaf trees – two silver birch, two rowan, and a hazel – for ITV viewers to plant as their own contribution to the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy. The 10,000 packs will be free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. Successful applicants will receive a special commemorative booklet, including information and photographs on the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy project, and educational information about trees, and how to nurture them.
